Inspection and Reject Station
Capabilities
Upside-down bottle detection
Down bottle detection
Reject station
Reject verification
As bottles get conveyed away from the machine, a gate sensor detects the leading edge of a bottle, triggering sensors to take their read. The machine’s PLC uses the feedback to detect upside-down or down bottles, and reject them.
Upside-Down Bottle Detection – This sensor is mounted above the conveyor. If a bottle is upside-down when this sensor takes its read, then the emitted signal will reflect strongly off the base of the bottle. The PLC expects a weaker signal as the emitted signal should enter the bottle’s neck. The PLC will reject this bottle.
Down Bottle Detection – This sensor is mounted above the gate sensor. If a bottle is laying on its side when this sensor takes its read, then the emitted signal will be weak. The PLC expects a stronger signal as the emitted signal should bounce off the bottle’s body. The PLC will reject this bottle.
Reject Air Jets - When there is a reject condition, the PLC will turn on an air jet. A burst of compressed will blow the reject bottle into a bin.
Conveyor Reject Verification - A photoelectric sensor mounted at the entrance of the reject bin detects the presence of a bottle passing by during a reject cycle. The PLC uses this feedback to verify that the rejected bottle has been removed. If the sensor does not detect a bottle within a set time, then the PLC will fault the machine.
